Assumption Church Feast Day: Monday, August 14th, Great Vespers at 6:30 pm followed by a reception; on Tuesday, August 15 Orthros will be at 9:00 am, Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am, followed by a reception.

Assumption Church Women’s Summer Book Study: This summer’s book discussion/potluck luncheon/pool party will meet on Saturday, August 19th from 11 am - 2 pm at the home of Keve Gialouris. We will read Bringing Jesus to the Desert by Bradley Nassif before the meeting in preparation for discussion. Please bring a dish to share for the potluck. Copies of the book are available in the Church office. Please call Presvytera Laura at (314) 303-1784 for more information.Women from all local Orthodox churches are welcome to come together in fellowship and learning.

 

Panagia's Panegyri Annual Feast Day Celebration: Sunday, August 20, 8:30 am Orthros, 9:45 am Divine Liturgy, 12:00 pm Panagia's Panegyri. Roasted lamb on a spit for mezedakia (hors d'oeuvres), shish-k-bob, rice, salad, bread, ice cream and watermelon for dessert, hot dogs for kids, lemonade, ice tea and water included. Beer available for purchase. $15 for adults, 12 and under $5. Games (including water games) for kids, music and dancing. Any donations in honor of all the Marias, Marys, Panagiotas/ Panagiotis may be given to Dessie Bellos.

Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church Feast Day: Nativity of the Virgin Church will be celebrating its patronal feast day this year September 7 & 8. All clergy and parishioners from our sister Orthodox parishes are invited to join us in the celebration. Clergy are welcome to concelebrate at the Holy Altar.  We will be wearing blue vestments. Schedule of events: Thursday, September 7, 7:00 p.m. Vespers for the Feast; Friday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. Liturgy for the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. 416 Ewing Ave., Madison, IL 62060. 

 

Labor Day Weekend Family Retreat: Fr. Stephen Freeman presents, “Living the Mystery” a retreat for the whole family from the Metropolis of Chicago. St. John the Theologian Orthodox Church Feast Day: The St. John the Theologian Orthodox Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri will celebrate her patronal feast day with a vigil service on Monday, September 25, 2017.  The vigil service will begin at 5:00 with the reading of the Pre-Communion Prayers, followed by Great Vespers and Orthros.
